Canadian Maritime Prayer Cycle
January
We pray for the St. Lawrence Seaway Authority that it may be blessed in the management and maintenance of the canals and bridges under its jurisdiction.
February
We pray for marine safety, that the International Maritime Organization and the Canadian Department of Transportation Marine Safety inspectors may be blessed in their efforts to ensure that ships are safe and crews are well trained.
March
April
We pray for shipping companies that they may conduct business that is profitable and fair to the seafarers.
May
We give thanks for naval and merchant naval personnel who in the Battle of the Atlantic kept the sea-lanes open and shipped food and war material; and
we pray for the Canadian Navy that the ships and personnel may defend our coasts and vessels that sail upon our waters, and be successful in search and rescue operations.
June
We pray for Port Authorities that they may be blessed in managing our harbours.
July
On Sea Sunday we pray for Seafarers, and for Christian outreach organizations that assist seafarers: the International Christian Maritime Ministry Association, the North American Maritime Ministry Association, the Mission to Seafarers and the Apostleship of the Sea.
August
We pray for unions that assist the seafarers, the International Labour Organization, the Seafarers International Union and the International Transport Workers Federation that they may bring justice and fair treatment of seafarers.
September
We pray for Shipping Agents that they may have a spirit of service in their dealings with ship’s crews.
October
We pray for stevedores that they may load ships safely.
November
We give thanks for the naval and merchant naval personnel who in wartime kept the sea-lanes open, shipped food and war material and supported the army.
December
We pray for the Canadian Coast Guard that the ships and personnel may keep our sea-lanes safe through maintaining aids to navigation and ice breaking, and be successful in search and rescue operations.
