Appointment
The Chaplain appoints the Seafarers’ Centre Manager and Assistant Seafarers’ Centre Manager for a one-year renewable appointment with the term running from one Annual General Meeting to the next AGM.
The Board of Directors will review the position as the need arises.
The role of the Seafarers Centre Manager is to ensure that the Seafarers Centre is clean, straightened up and ready for Watch Keepers to host seafarers, and that the shed is straightened up. The Seafarers’ Centre Manager will work with volunteers who are assigned to specific tasks at the Centre.
The Assistant Seafarers’ Centre Manager will work with the Seafarers’ Centre Manager to accomplish his/her duties, and fill in when the Seafarers’ Centre Manager is away or unable to work.
The Seafarers Centre Manager and Assistant Seafarers’ Centre Manager can claim for mileage.
1. Work with volunteers:
Bags for ships
Books & magazines
Christmas Gift Bags
Cleaner
Clothing
Pop
Recycling cans
Wednesday lunch
Weekly
2. Get mail and distribute.
3. Check petty cash boxes and ensure good to go.
4. Ensure sufficient SIM cards and Credit Vouchers are activated: check supply, activate, do the accounting for and order more cards as required.
5. Check stamps and purchase as required.
6. Check supply of pop and ensure pop is purchased as required.
7. Check supply of bags of magazines for ships and ensure sufficient bags are made up.
Monthly
8. Complete Monthly Statistics Worksheet for the previous month.
9. Complete Health and Safety Checklist.
10. Ensure cleaning supplies and paper products are purchased as required.

The Seafarers Centre Manager and Assistant Seafarers’ Centre Manager are accountable to the Chaplain or in his absence the Chair of the Board of Directors.
In the absence of both the Seafarers Centre Manager and the Assistant Seafarers’ Centre Manager, the Chaplain assumes the Seafarers Centre Manager’s responsibilities.
